Authorities Identify 2 Sisters Killed in Chowchilla Crash at Road 22 and Avenue 24

Martina Vargas and Gregoria Vargas Die in Chowchilla Car Accident at Road 22 and Avenue 24

Chowchilla, California (August 21, 2019) – Martina Gudino Vargas, 50, and Gregoria Gudino Vargas, 45, have been identified as the two sisters who were killed in a traffic crash at around 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 19 in Chowchilla.

The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Road 22 and Avenue 24.

Authorities said a Toyota Rav4 was traveling on the roadway when the driver ran a red light at the intersection and hit a Saturn that was heading eastbound on Avenue 24.

Martina and Gregoria were killed in the accident. Two other people in the Saturn were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Four occupants of the RAV4 were taken to CRMC with unknown injuries.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
