41-Year-Old Woman Dies in Fatal Sacramento Pedestrian Accident near Fruiridge Road and Nona Way

Sacramento, California (December 16, 2019) – A woman died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in South Sacramento early Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deadly crash occurred just before 3:00 a.m. Sunday, December 15 near Fruiridge Road and Nona Way.

According to the CHP, a 41-year-old Sacramento woman was crossing Fruitridge road outside of a marked crosswalk when for an unknown reason, she was struck by a vehicle that was heading northbound on Fruitridge Road toward Highway 99.

The woman, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a 24-year-old Sacramento woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
