33-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized after Clairemont Car Accident on Balboa Avenue and Charger Boulevard

San Diego, California (January 14, 2020) – A woman was seriously injured Monday afternoon in an alleged DUI crash in the Clairemont neighborhood of San Diego, according to a local news source.

The accident took place at around 12:54 p.m. Monday, January 13 on Balboa Avenue and Charger Boulevard and involved four vehicles .

As per the report, a Nissan Frontier, driven by a 59-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Balboa Avenue when for an unknown reason, the Frontier slammed into the center divider and drifted into oncoming traffic, where it hit a Jeep Patriot driven by a 33-year-old woman.

The Patriot then struck a Honda Civic and a Jeep Cherokee.

The driver of the Patriot sustained a broken leg and was transported to a local hospital. Her passenger complained of pain after the crash.

The driver of the Nissan Frontier was arrested at the crash site on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

The crash caused traffic congestion on Balboa Avenue for more than 90 minutes.

The accident remains under investigation.
