Woman Killed in Oceanside Pedestrian Accident on Oceanside Boulevard near College Boulevard
Oceanside, California (May 14, 2020) – A woman was hit and killed by a car on Wednesday night in Oceanside, according to police.
The crash happened at around 8:45 p.m., on May 13, on Oceanside Boulevard near College Boulevard.
The authorities said the woman, believed to be a transient, was pushing a cart and crossing Oceanside Street legally from northbound to southbound at a break in the road when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man.
The police said the male driver was heading east on Oceanside Boulevard and may have been distracted. He noticed the pedestrian and tried to swerve to avoid hitting her but it was too late.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the woman lying on the eastbound lanes. The woman was aided by the first responders and transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Drugs or alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the mishap.
