Wayne Richards Killed in Santa Clarita Plane Accident near 14 Freeway

Santa Clarita, California (January 5, 2020) – Wayne Richards has been identified as the pilot killed after a plane crash on Saturday morning in Santa Clarita, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision occurred on the Newhall Avenue off-ramp from the 14 Freeway at about 10:10 a.m. Saturday, January 4.

As per the CHP officials, a home-built TM-1 Thunder Mustang crashed near the freeway for unknown reasons. The impact caused the plane to burst into flames.

Richards suffered fatal injuries following the accident. He was the only person aboard the plane at the time.

No one near the location was injured in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
