Victim Killed in Arleta Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on Branford Street ID’d as Jesus Urbina

36-Year-Old Jesus Urbina Fatal Arleta Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on Branford Street 

Los Angeles, California (January 21, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol has released the name of the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a suspected hit-and-run driver in Arleta on Sunday night.

The bicycle accident occurred on Branford Street at about 7:00 p.m. on January 19. 

The crash involved a speeding Mercedes-Benz traveling westbound in the right lane behind another car and 36-year-old Jesus Urbina, who was riding his bicycle northeast across Branford Street.

The initial report indicated that the Mercedes-Benz motorist was trying to overtake the slower vehicle into the left lane at the time of the collision.

Urbina sustained serious injuries in the crash. Urbina died at the hospital, where he was admitted after the accident.

Meanwhile, the operator of the involved vehicle did not stop to render aid to the deceased.

The investigation is underway.
