Baby Injured in DUI Car Accident on Live Oak Avenue in Irwindale; Eric Vargas Arrested

Baby Hurt, Eric Vargas Arrested after DUI Irwindale Car Crash on Live Oak Avenue 

Irwindale, California (January 21, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a fatal DUI car crash that left a baby with minor injuries on Sunday evening in Irwindale.

The crash occurred on Live Oak Avenue near southbound Interstate 605 Freeway on-ramp, a while before 8:40 p.m. on January 19.

The California Highway Patrol said a 28-year-old Eric Vargas of Baldwin Park was riding a car at a high rate of speed along Live Oak Avenue when it slammed into two other cars.

An ambulance was sent to the crash site to render aid to a baby involved in the collision. The infant was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Vargas was treated for minor injuries at the crash site. Authorities later arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI.

An investigation is ongoing.
