Rudolph Allen Killed in El Sobrante Pedestrian Accident on San Pablo Dam Road

Authorities Identify Man Who Died in Hospital Three Days After Being Struck by Vehicle on San Pablo Dam Road in El Sobrante as Rudolph Allen

El Sobrante, California (May 1, 2020) – Rudolph Allen, 52, of Pinole, succumbed to his injuries after being involved in an auto-pedestrian collision on Sunday night in Long Beach.

Authorities said a 1998 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on San Pablo Dam Road at about 8:25 p.m. Sunday, April 26, when it struck Allen, who was in front of the store.

Allen was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries on Wednesday, April 29.

According to the reports, Allen was attempting to retrieve his property after it had been thrown into the roadway by somebody else. Authorities said the area where he was struck was unmarked and extremely dark.

The 57-year-old driver of the Camry stopped at the scene and was cooperative, police said.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
