Adrienne Bates Killed in Long Beach Pedestrian Accident on Artesia Boulevard

Authorities Identify Woman Hit and Killed by Vehicle on Artesia Boulevard near 710 Freeway Off-Ramp in Long Beach as Adrienne Bates

Long Beach, California (May 1, 2020) – Adrienne Bates, 54, of Cudahy, has been identified as the woman who died after being struck by a vehicle in Long Beach Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said the vehicle was heading eastbound on Artesia Boulevard at about 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, when it struck Bates, who was outside of the marked crosswalk near the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway exit.

Bates was pronounced dead at the scene.

The off-ramp was closed during the investigation.

Further details regarding the accident were not immediately given, and the crash remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
