Culver City, California (March 9, 2020) – A traffic accident in Culver City left a pedestrian dead early Monday morning, according to authorities.

The man was hit by a vehicle at around 12:50 a.m., on the southbound 405 Freeway near Culver Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man, whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification, was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down as the authorities investigated the accident. All lanes were reopened at around 4:15 a.m.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
