Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Being Hit by Vehicle on Effie Street in Fresno

Woman Critically Injured in Fresno Pedestrian Crash on Effie Street at Ashlan Avenue

Fresno, California (February 26, 2020) – A female pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in northeast Fresno Tuesday night, authorities said.

At about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, the police received a report about a traffic accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the area of Ashlan Avenue and Effie Street near Blackstone.

The woman was walking down the center median of the road when she darted into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
