Pedestrian Hospitalized After Getting Hit by Vehicle in Mission District

Man Critically Injured in Mission District Pedestrian Accident at 18th and Valencia Streets

San Francisco, California (March 7, 2020) – A 50-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Mission District, according to a local news source.

The man, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was crossing at 18th and Valencia streets at around 11:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, when he was struck by a vehicle.

The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The 31-year-old man driving the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

It is undetermined if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
