Izeah Almaguer Arrested in Tulare Fatal Car Crash on H Street and San Joaquin Avenue
Tulare, California (March 6, 2020) – Police officers arrested Izeah Almaguer,23, of Tulare, on suspicion of felony drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter in a crash that killed a Tulare educator, Rudy Carrasco, 49, of Woodlake in Tulare, according to a police report.
The deadly crash occurred last month on Wednesday, February 27, at around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of H street ad San Joaquin Avenue.
Police said Almaguer ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed when he broadsided a Toyota Prius drive Carrasco on the driver’s side.
Carrasco was reportedly trapped in the vehicle, and he was removed and transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with major injuries.
Carrasco later died at the hospital.
Almaguer sustained injuries and was also taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
Blood samples were obtained at the hospital, and results of the toxicology screening revealed on Friday that Almaguer had a blood alcohol content.
Almaguer was arrested Friday afternoon and booked into the Tulare County Jail.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
