Person Dies Following Fatal Camp Pendleton Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 5

Camp Pendleton, California (January 31, 2020) – According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian died after a being struck by a vehicle Friday morning near Camp Pendleton.

The deadly pedestrian accident took place at around 6:15 a.m. on Interstate 5, just south of the Aliso Creek rest stop.

As per the CHP report, a driver had stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway and attempted ran across the northbound lanes. The victim was then hit by a vehicle that was heading northbound.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

Three northbound lanes of the freeway were closed following the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
