Paul Whited Killed in Train, Car Collision at Golden State Boulevard and North Avenue in Fresno

Paul Whited ID’d as Man Killed in Fresno Train Accident at Golden State Boulevard and North Avenue

Fresno, California (June 4, 2020) – The man who died in a traffic accident involving a car and a train Sunday afternoon in Fresno has been identified as Paul Whited, 52, of Riverdale.

The deadly crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the intersection of Golden State Boulevard and North Avenue.

Authorities said Whited’s car was in the crossing when, for unknown reasons, it was hit by a Union Pacific train.

Whited died at the scene of the accident.

No injuries were reported on the train.

An investigation by Union Pacific and the sheriff’s office is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
