Hector Lara Arrested after Hit-and-Run Palmdale Motorcycle Accident on 15th Street and West Rancho Vista Boulevard
Palmdale, California (February 26, 2020) – Authorities have arrested the hit-and-run driver that fatally struck a motorcyclist earlier this month in Palmdale.
The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of 15th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard at around 12:30 a.m. on February 8.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Lara was driving a Honda Civic west when he allegedly ran a red light at the junction and struck 37-year-old Michael Davis of Palmdale. Davis was riding his motorcycle south on 15th Street West through a green light at Rancho Vista Boulevard when the accident happened.
Responding emergency crews declared Davis dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that Lara did not stop to render aid and he left his car and fled on foot. Lara later surrendered himself to Palmdale Sherrif’s Station on February 24 and was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
The suspect posted bond and was released 8 hours after his arrest. Lara is reportedly expected to appear in court on March 26.
The incident remains under investigation.
“Far too many motorcycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.
Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys have helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”
Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
