Man Suffers Major Injuries in Midway District Pedestrian Crash at Rosecrans Street and Midway Drive in Midway District

San Diego, California (March 16, 2020) – A 49-year-old man was hit and critically injured by a vehicle Sunday evening at the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Midway Drive in the Midway District, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was crossing Rosecrans Street at Midway Drive when a driver in a Mazda CX-5 heading southbound on Rosecrans struck him at around 4:00 p.m. on March 15.

The man sustained serious injuries, including a laceration to the back of his head, a skull fracture and an open fracture to his right ankle. Paramedics took him to a local hospital for treatment.

The motorist, a 41-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash. An investigation into the accident is underway.
