Man Killed in Bicycle versus Train Crash in Stanislaus County

27-Year-Old Man Killed in Empire Bicycle Crash at 2nd and E Streets

Stanislaus County, California (December 11, 2019) – A 27-year-old Oakdale man was fatally hit by a train Tuesday morning in Empire, Stanislaus County, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at about 8:00 a.m. at the Second and E streets.

Reportedly, the man went around the railroad arms to try and cross when he was struck by the Amtrak train.

The man sustained fatal injuries and died in the accident.

Authorities said weather conditions might have been a factor in the crash as the area was foggy.

The crash is under an active investigation.
