Man Dies Following Fatal Fresno Car Accident at North Blackstone and East Illinois
Fresno, California (February 13, 2020) – A man was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident involving two vehicles in central Fresno, authorities said.
The deadly crash took place at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Blackstone and East Illinois avenues.
According to the authorities, a Mercedes, driven by a Fresno man, was attempting to make a U-turn on a one-way street when, for an unknown reason, the Mercedes was t-boned by an oncoming Chevy Silverado.
The driver of the Mercedes was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
A passenger in the Mercedes was expected to be OK.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be factors in the collision.
Police closed southbound Blackstone Avenue between McKenzie Avenue and Divisadero for several hours following the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
