Los Angeles, California (February 13, 2020) – The woman who sustained major injuries following an alleged hit-and-run accident Tuesday morning in East Hollywood has been identified as Tatiana Leytman, 50.

The pedestrian accident happened at around 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, February 11 at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Lyman Place.

Authorities said Leytman was walking across the intersection inside a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a red or burgundy minivan.

Leytman was headed to the grocery store prior to the accident. The force of the impact threw her back a few feet.

Leytman was transported to a nearby hospital with a broken rib and a broken leg. According to the reports, she was discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was described as a 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Uplander with damage to its front right side.

Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run motorist.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to Los Angeles police at 213-833-3713.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
