Man killed and Child Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on State Route 4 near Tracy Boulevard in Discovery Bay

Child Hospitalized after Discovery Bay Fatal Multi-Vehicle on State Route 4 near Tracy Boulevard

Discovery Bay, California (February 14, 2020) – A man was killed, and a child seriously injured after a big rig struck two other vehicles on Friday morning on State Route 4 near South Tracy Boulevard in Discovery Bay, police said.

The California Highway Patrol said the big-rig was heading eastbound on the highway when it crossed the double-yellow line and slammed head-on into an SUV. After hitting the SUV, the big-rig sideswiped a mini-van.

The crash took place at around 8:00 a.m. February 14, according to the report.

The driver of the SUV was killed in the crash, and a child inside suffered major injuries. The child was flown to the hospital for treatment.

The occupants of the mini-van were not injured.

The driver of the big-rig was suspected of driving under the influence.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
