Man Hit, Seriously Injured by Vehicle on Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach

65-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Pacific Beach Pedestrian Accident on Grand Avenue near Balboa Avenue

Pacific Beach, California (February 7, 2020) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle Thursday evening in Pacific Beach, authorities said.

The accident took place on Grand Avenue near Balboa Avenue shortly before 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6.

According to the authorities, the pedestrian, a 65-year-old man, was struck by a 1998 Honda Accord while he was walking in the eastbound side of Grand Avenue.

The man sustained major injuries, including pelvic and right femur fractures and was transported to a hospital.

The Honda driver, a 17-year-old boy, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
