Jonathan Villalpando Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 605 Freeway in Norwalk
Jonathan Villalpando Hospitalized after Fatal Norwalk Car Accident on San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue
Norwalk, California (February 6, 2020) – A three-car accident on 605 Freeway in Norwalk, killed a 24-year-old woman early Wednesday morning and left two other people injured.
The fatal accident took place at around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 5 in the southbound lane of San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, just south of Rosecrans Avenue.
Authorities said a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on 605 Freeway when, for an unknown reason, it drifted across the traffic lanes and slammed into the center median.
The Toyota came to rest in the traffic lanes and was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Honda Accord. The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to flip over and a Chrysler PT Cruiser crashed into it.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as Alyssa Alexus Contreras, 24, of La Puente. Contreras died in the accident.
In the Dodge Ram, the driver was identified as Jonathan J. Villalpando, 28, of Fontana. Villalpando was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Jose O. Estrada, 42, of Pico Rivera, who was the driver of the Honda Accord, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the PT Cruiser, Milton Max Marquardt, 46, of Ontario, was not injured.
A SigAlert was issued at around 4:05 a.m. for the closure of all lanes of the southbound 605 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue. All lanes were reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
The accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
