Jimmy Cawthon Jr., Charles Nance Injured in Walnut Street Car Accident in Red Bluff

Jimmy Cawthon Jr., Charles Nance and Jennifer Lenwell ID’d as 3 Injured in Red Bluff Crash at Walnut Street and Fortier Road

Red Bluff, California (January 25, 2020) – Jimmy Ray Cawthon, Jr., 49, Charles Nance, 37, and Jennifer L. Lenwell, 36, all from Red Bluff, have been identified as the three people who were injured Thursday evening in an alleged DUI crash in Red Bluff.

The two-car crash took place at around 5:50 p.m. Thursday, January 23 near the intersection of Walnut Street and Fortier Road.

Authorities said Cawthon was driving eastbound on Walnut Street when for an unknown reason, his vehicle veered into the path of a westbound vehicle operated by Nance. Both vehicles eventually collided head-on.

Nance and his passenger, Jennifer L. Lenwell, 36, of Red Bluff, sustained minor injuries and were transported to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. Cawthon was also taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities said alcohol played a role in the accident.

Walnut Street was closed at Fortier Road for around 30 minutes following the crash.
