George Xedes Killed in Antelope Pedestrian Accident on Walerga Road

George Xedes ID’d as Man Killed in Pedestrian DUI Crash on Walerga Road near Elverta Road in Antelope

Antelope, California (January 20, 2020) – The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was struck and killed by a drunk driver early Sunday morning in Antelope as George James Xedes, 65, of North Highlands.

The deadly accident happened at about 12:35 a.m. Sunday, January 19 on southbound Walerga Road near Elverta Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Xedes was walking westbound across Walerga Road when he was hit by a 1999 Toyota Corolla that was heading southbound.

Xedes was pronounced dead at the scene at around at 12:44 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota, Andrew Jogesh Lal, 25, of Rocklin, stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Southbound Walerga Road was shut down as the authorities investigated the accident.
