David Chow Killed in San Francisco Pedestrian Accident at Polk and O’Farrell Streets

Coroner Identify Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Vehicle at Polk and O’Farrell Streets in San Francisco as David Chow

San Francisco, California (February 26, 2020) – David Chow, 80, of San Francisco, has been identified as the pedestrian who died Friday morning after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in the Tenderloin neighborhood.

Chow was walking across the street at the intersection of Polk and O’Farrell streets on Friday, February 21, when a vehicle struck him.

Chow was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was later declared dead.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
