Darren Wilhite Injured in Nevada City Truck Accident on Highway 20 near White Cloud Campground
Nevada City, California (January 29, 2020) – One person was hospitalized Monday afternoon after a traffic crash in Nevada City, according to a local news source.
The wreck happened at about 1:40 p.m. Monday, January 27 on Highway 20 near White Cloud Campground.
Authorities said a semi-trailer driven by Christopher Banks, 45, was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 and was coming around a sharp corner when its tail end crossed the double yellow line and hit a westbound semi-truck operated by Darren Wilhite, 51, of Live Oak.
As a result of the collision, Wilhite’s truck went down a cliff, where it struck into several trees.
Wilhite sustained several broken ribs and was complaining of chest pain after the crash. He was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center and was discharged Monday evening.
Banks was not injured.
Approximately 150 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into a creek and a hazmat team was at the scene to clean up.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
