Carlos LemosChamo Hospitalized after Fatal 2-Car Crash in Madera Ranchos

Carlos LemosChamo Seriously Injured in Madera Ranchos Car Crash on Highway 145 near Road 38

Madera Ranchos, California (March 1, 2020) – Carlos LemosChamo, 24, of Merced, has been identified as the passenger who was seriously injured in a head-on crash that killed two people and two others injured on Saturday morning in Madera Ranchos.

The crash occurred at around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, February 29 on Highway 145, just east of Road 38.

A 29-year-old man from Hollister was driving a 2015 Chrysler 300 westbound on Highway 145 when he attempted to pass another vehicle and moved into the eastbound lane of the highway. The Chrysler then collided head-on with a 2003 Honda Accord driven by a 37-year-old woman from Madera.

The Chrysler crashed through a barbed-wire fence off the north shoulder of the highway, overturned, came to a stop in a cattle pasture, and then burst into flames while the Honda Spun and stopped blocking the eastbound lane partially due to the crash.

The drivers of the Honda and the Chrysler died at the scene.

LemosChamo, a passenger in the Chrysler, was hospitalized at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with significant injuries sustained from the crash. Two passengers in the Honda were also hospitalized at the Community Regional Medical Center with significant injuries.

It remains unclear if alcohol or drugs were a  factor in the Accident.

Highway 145 was closed for about four hours after the crash.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Madera area CHP office at 559-675-1025.
