Bicyclist Killed in Collision on Road 26 in Madera

Man Dies Following Madera Bicycle Crash on Road 26 at Ellis Street

Madera, California (March 17, 2020) – A traffic accident claimed the life of a 70-year-old Madera man riding a bicycle early Monday morning in Madera, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding his bicycle across Road 26 and Ellis Street when a 2006 GMC struck him at about 5:32 a.m. on March 16.

After the impact, the bicyclist was ejected into the number one lane of southbound Road 26 and was struck by a 1999 Toyota Camry.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced the bicycle rider dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Madera County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the GMC, Nicanor Carlos Garcia, 37, of Chowchilla, and the Camry driver, Jaime Rodriguez, 53, of Madera, remained at the scene and were cooperative, authorities said.

The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.

Madera area CHP office asked anyone who witness the crash to contact them at 559-675-1025.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.

Mr. Khodaverdian encourages victims and their family members to seek legal help as soon as possible in order to preserve their rights to the full extent of the law.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
