Mark Luther Fatal San Diego Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 5 near Hawthorn Street
San Diego, California (March 16, 2020) – 58-year-old Mark Luther, of San Diego, has been identified as one of the two drivers killed in a wrong-way, head-on crash last week on Interstate 5 near Hawthorn Street, police said.
The California Highway Patrol were called at the scene of the crash on Wednesday, March 11, at about 1:15 a.m.
The crash involved a southbound black sedan heading in a wrong-way on the northbound lanes when it collided with a northbound vehicle. The two vehicles reportedly collided head-on.
Luther was one of the two drivers, and both were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The freeway was closed for several hours following the fatal accident.
Police officers are investigating the cause crash.
