1 Seriously Hurt in Bakersfield Car Accident on Highway 43 near I-5

Bakersfield, California (January 3, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol said one person sustained serious injuries in a traffic crash that happened Thursday afternoon on Highway 43 in Bakersfield.

Two vehicles, including a white van, collided at about 2:35 p.m. just north of Interstate 5.

An occupant of one of the cars was pinned inside the vehicle and needed extrication.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and requested an air ambulance to airlift one person who sustained major injuries to the hospital.

The cause of the crash will be established when authorities conclude their investigation.
