Authorities Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Crash in Saratoga
Robert Caldwell Killed in Saratoga Motorcycle Accident on Highway 9 near Heather Heights Road
Saratoga, California (January 22, 2020) – The motorcyclist who died in a traffic crash that happened late Saturday afternoon in Saratoga has been identified as Robert Caldwell, 31, of Santa Clara.
The deadly accident took place at around 4:13 p.m. Saturday, January 18 on Highway 9 near the intersection of Heather Heights Road.
Authorities said Caldwell was traveling northbound on Highway 9 when for an undetermined reason, his motorcycle crossed over the center median on a sharp curve and crashed into a southbound Honda sedan.
Caldwell’s bike then collided with a pickup truck that was traveling behind the sedan. Due to the impact, Caldwell was thrown off his motorcycle and was run over by the rear wheels of the truck.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced Caldwell dead at the scene.
A portion of the roadway was shut down for approximately three hours as the investigation and cleanup took place.
