Adolfo Sanchez Killed after Petaluma Workplace Accident on East D Street near Petaluma River

Petaluma, California (January 7, 2020) – 31-year-old Adolfo Sanchez of Fairfield has been identified as the worker killed after a conveyor system collapsed on him at a silo in Petaluma, according to officials.

The collision took place in the 100 block of East D Street, near Petaluma River, Friday, January 3.

As per the CHP officials, Sanchez and his coworker were dismantling a heavy metal casing for a conveyor motor using a cutting torch on the silo’s top when the whole system collapsed on him.

Responding emergency crews extricated Sanchez who was pinned underneath the heavy heap of metal on the top of the silo.

Sanchez suffered severe chest injuries and was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Officials mentioned that the deceased was a 13-year employee of Lind Marine, a Petaluma-based dredging contractor that owns the industrial property in the location.

An investigation by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration is ongoing.
