5 Injured in Scripps Ranch DUI Car Accident on Pomerado Road
San Diego, California (January 27, 2020) – Five people sustained injuries following a traffic accident that happened Sunday morning in the Scripps Ranch neighborhood of San Diego, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 10:12 a.m. Sunday, January 26 in the 10600 block of Pomerado Road.
Police said a compact Smart car was traveling eastbound on Pomerado Road when it crossed over the center median and collided with a Land Rover that was traveling westbound.
As a result of the collision, the Land Rover spun out of control and ended up in the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by a Honda HRV that was heading eastbound.
The driver of the Land Rover, a 68-year-old woman, suffered major injuries, including a fractured pelvis. The Honda driver, a 27-year-old woman, and her two juvenile passengers suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Smart car was treated for minor injuries and arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The accident remains under investigation.
