Woman and 2 Children Hospitalized After Modesto DUI Car Accident at College and Granger Avenues
Modesto, California (May 11, 2020) – A total of three people were hospitalized after being involved in an alleged DUI hit-and-run collision that happened at the intersection of College and Granger avenues in Modesto Saturday evening.
The accident involved a pickup truck driven by a 22-year-old woman and a black Honda that collided at the intersection on May 9 for unknown reasons.
The Honda driver, 23-year-old Joseph Anthony Macedo, did not stop after the mishap and fled the scene.
Firefighters responded at the crash site and extricated the female motorist who was trapped in the truck upon the impact.
The woman sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries following the wreck. She was rushed to an area hospital for further treatment.
Two kids, aged 7 and 11, were also hospitalized with non-serious injuries. The children were riding in the pickup truck at the time of the collision.
Macedo, a Modesto resident, was later arrested by police on suspicion of DUI causing injury, driving on a revoked or suspended license and hit-and-run. He was booked on a $50,000 bail.
The accident remains under an active investigation.
