Crash on Fifth at Idaho Streets in Fairfield Leaves Pedestrian Dead

Pedestrian Killed in Fairfield Crash on Fifth at Idaho Streets

Fairfield, California (May 11, 2020) – A female pedestrian was killed Friday morning in a crash in Fairfield, authorities said.

At around 5:30 a.m. May 8, officers responded to the area of Fifth and Idaho streets for a report of a pedestrian accident.

As per the report, a woman, believed to be homeless, was struck by a vehicle while lying in the middle of the roadway.

The woman died at the scene of the accident. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a Fairfield man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

It remains unknown whether the woman was sleeping at the time of the accident, or if intoxication played a role in her part.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
