2 Pedestrians Hospitalized after Being Struck by Vehicle in Salinas

2 Injured in Salinas Pedestrian Accident at Independence and Constitution Boulevards

Salinas, California (February 12, 2020) – Two pedestrians were injured and a dog was killed Tuesday morning in a traffic accident in Salinas, a local news source reported.

The pedestrian crash occurred in the area of Independence and Constitution boulevards at about 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 11.

According to the local news report, a vehicle struck two people and their dog while they were walking in the area in a designated crosswalk.

The two pedestrians were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The dog died at the scene of the accident.

The driver involved told police that he did not see the pedestrians because of the sun glare.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
