2 Killed in Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 near Hosking Road in Bakersfield

Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Bakersfield on Highway 99 near Hosking Road

Bakersfield, California (January 3, 2020) – Two people were killed in an accident involving two vehicles on Friday evening in Bakersfield, according to the CHP.

The collision occurred at around 5:45 p.m. January 3, on the northbound lanes of Highway 99 just south of the Hosking Road exit.

Authorities said a dark-colored Elentra rear-ended a Semi-truck for reasons still under investigation. The sedan ended up underneath the truck’s trailer.

Two people in the sedan were killed while the third person was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the semi-truck fled the scene but was later detained for felony hit-and-run.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
