Two Killed, Two Injured in Gardena Crash on Artesia Boulevard and Vermont Avenue Sunday morning

Los Angeles, California (December 30, 2019) – Two people were killed and two others injured early Sunday morning in a traffic accident in the Gardena area, Los Angeles, according to authorities.

The deadly crash was reported at around 12:39 a.m. Sunday, December 29 in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.

Authorities said a man was driving a black Tesla southbound on Vermont Avenue when he exited off the westbound Gardena (91) Freeway at a high rate of speed and allegedly failed to stop at a red light, hitting a Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Artesia Boulevard.

Two occupants of the Honda, a man and woman, were declared dead at the scene of the accident. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The driver of the Tesla and his female passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Their current conditions were not immediately disclosed.

No other details about the crash were given.

The accident remains under investigation.
