Driver Dies after Traver Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 near Merritt Drive
Traver, California (April 9, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a Wednesday evening truck accident that left one man killed in Traver.
The deadly crash involving a UPS truck was reported at around 7:45 p.m., on April 8, on Highway 99 near Merritt Drive.
The CHP said a tire of a vehicle that was heading northbound on Highway 99 blew off, and its driver pulled over to inspect it. As the driver was checking his car, he was hit by a UPS truck. The truck was also traveling northbound on the highway at the time.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was declared deceased at the scene.
The truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with the police.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
