1 Killed when Train Strikes Car in Santa Ana

Santa Ana Train Accident near East Hunter and South Grand Leaves 1 Dead

Santa Ana, California (January 7, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a fatal train accident that happened Monday afternoon in Santa Ana.

Authorities said a Metrolink train crashed into a vehicle that was on the tracks, killing one person.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. near East Hunter and South Grand avenues.

The Metrolink OC Line 689 train was headed to downtown LA’s Union Station when it hit the car, which was on the tracks for unknown reasons.

One person in the vehicle died in the crash. The car had no passengers.

A dog in the vehicle survived the crash with some bruising. It had blood on one leg but appeared uninjured.

The cause of the crash will be established when authorities conclude their investigation.
