Carmen Ramirez Injured in Winton Crash at Winton Way and Mercedes Avenue
Merced County, California (January 7, 2020) – 60-year-old Carmen Ramirez of Winton has been identified as one of the two motorists injured after a two-car collision Monday morning in Merced County, according to a local news source.
The collision happened at about 11:20 a.m. Monday, January 6, at the intersection of North Winton Way and Mercedes Avenue.
As per the report, 18-year-old Alvarez of Atwater was driving a 1999 Honda Civic eastbound on Mercedes Avenue when he failed to yield at a stop sign and crashed into a box truck that was traveling northbound on North Winton Way.
The two cars came to a stop on the front lawn of a nearby home. The box truck, driven by Ramirez, sustained significant front-end damage while the Honda was totaled following the accident.
Alvarez suffered severe injuries and was taken to Modesto Memorial Hospital for treatment. Ramirez complained of pain after the collision and was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
Officials did not believe alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing.
