1 Killed in Hawthorne Pedestrian Accident on Crenshaw Boulevard

Vehicle Struck and Killed Homeless Man on Crenshaw Boulevard in Hawthorne

Hawthorne, California (May 15, 2020) – A pedestrian collision that happened at 12600 block of Crenshaw Boulevard in Hawthorne early Thursday morning resulted in the death of a male party.

As per the Los Angeles County Fire Department report, the man, in his 50s, died at the crash site after being hit by a vehicle at about 5:22 a.m.

Police said the pedestrian, believed to have been homeless, was possibly not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Pending notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.

The motorist of the involved vehicle remained at the scene after hitting the pedestrian.

The detectives handling the case are gathering more evidence to determine the cause of the accident.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
