1 Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 in National City

One Killed in National City Car Accident near State Route 54

National City, California (January 11, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that happened early Saturday morning on Interstate 5 in National City.

The deadly accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the interstate, just after the State Route 54 connector.

According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles were involved in the collision. Details of what led up to the crash are unknown at this time.

One person was killed in the crash. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 5 were closed following the crash. Traffic was being diverted off WB SR-54 onto Highland Avenue.

As per the report, motorists were also being diverted off I-5 at the Mile of Cars.

No other details regarding the crash were immediately disclosed.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
