Yvette Herrera Hospitalized after DUI Accident at Wood Street and Lierly Avenue in Taft

Yvette Herrera Seriously Hurt in Taft Car Crash at Wood Street and Lierly Avenue

Taft, California (May 31, 2020) – Yvette Herrera, 21, of Taft, has been identified as the woman who was seriously injured in a DUI traffic accident on Thursday evening in Taft, police said.

At about 5:30 p.m., on May 28, the California Highway Patrol responded to the major injury crash at Wood Street and Lierly Avenue.

The officials said a Ford, operated by Herrera, was driving eastbound on Wood Street when it collided with a Chevrolet Cruze.

The Chevrolet was reportedly traveling southbound on Lierly Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it allegedly ran a stop sign at Wood Street and crashed into the Ford.

Both vehicles veered into the front yard of a home in the 500 block of Lierly Avenue. The Ford became wedged against the front porch of the house.

First responders freed Herrera, who was trapped in her vehicle due to the accident. She was then flown to Kern Medical Center with injuries including a possible broken pelvis and a broken femur.

The Chevrolet driver, who had fled the scene on foot, was later arrested near South Tenth and Crystal streets on suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run causing injury.

The crash remains under investigation.

Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
