Yuma Man Killed in State Route 98 Accident near Interstate 8 in El Centro
El Centro, California (April 22, 2020) – A Yuma man died following a traffic accident that happened Friday in El Centro, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
On April 17, the CHP officers received a report about the crash on State Route 98, just west of Interstate 8.
According to the CHP report, a Lexus was heading eastbound on State Route 98 when it collided with a Ford F-150 that was traveling westbound. As a result of the collision, the Ford spun off the roadway on the north shoulder of State Route 98 while the Lexus landed on the south shoulder of State Route 98.
The driver of the Lexus, only identified as a 31-year-old Yuma man, died at the scene of the accident. The Ford driver, a 32-year-old Somerton man, complained of pain.
All drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
