Woman Killed in San Juan Capistrano Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway near Camino Capistrano

San Juan Capistrano, California (February 29, 2020) – A woman was struck and killed by a truck early Saturday morning in San Juan Capistrano, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. on the 5 Freeway, just south of Camino Capistrano.

The woman was driving her vehicle on the freeway when he pulled over on the right shoulder of the highway, the CHP said. She then exited her vehicle and was struck by a big rig.

The big rig jackknifed in the center divider and blocked the left three lanes.

The woman was declared dead at the scene by responding paramedics. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP at 949-487-4000.
