Woman Dies After Being Struck by Train in Fresno

Woman Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Accident near Butler and East Avenues Wednesday evening

Fresno, California (February 19, 2020) – A woman died after being struck by a train in southeast Fresno Wednesday evening, a local news source reported.

The crash happened near Butler and East Avenues just after 5:00 p.m.

According to authorities, the woman was hit by the train while she was walking along the tracks. The train was traveling less than the speed limit at the time of the accident.

The woman suffered head injuries and the paramedics administered CPR on her. She was then rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The conductor of the train remained at the scene and cooperated with the police

Traffic was backed up in the area.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
