Driver Sought after Fleeing Scene of El Monte Crash that Critically Injured 12-Year-Old Boy

El Monte, California (January 21, 2020) – Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a crash that left a 12-year-old boy critically injured Saturday night in El Monte.

The El Monte Police Department said the accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. at Garvey and Lexington avenues.

Family members identified the boy on a GoFundMe page as Victor Magana.

Authorities said a Toyota Sienna and a Chevy Suburban collided, and one of them spun out of control and hit a curb.

A surveillance video from a nearby business showed the driver of the Chevy fleeing the scene on foot.

The 12-year-old suffered critical injuries in the crash. He was rushed to a hospital where he remained in stable condition as of Monday.

Another unidentified person sustained injuries that were considered less serious.

El Monte police are asking any person with information about the crash or the suspect driver to call them at 626-580-2100.
