Driver Killed, Toniyo Atkinson Arrested after San Bernardino Car Crash at Lynwood and Mountain Avenues

San Bernardino, California (June 2, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning alleged DUI accident that killed one person in San Bernardino.

The crash occurred at around 2:14 a.m., on June 1, at the intersection of Lynwood and Mountain avenues.

The San Bernardino Police Department said a Chevy Tahoe, driven by Toniyo Atkinson, 42, of San Bernardino, collided with a Honda Accord, which ran a stop sign at the intersection.

A 37-year-old San Bernardino resident, the Honda driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Atkinson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The suspect was booked into West Valley Detention Center and bail set at $100,000 as of Monday evening.

The crash remains under investigation.
